Train Your Breathing. In the Water.

Snorkel Force is developing an innovative breathing muscle training device that integrates with a snorkel, allowing athletes to strengthen their respiratory muscles during swimming and other aquatic activities.

About snorkelforce

Revolutionising Respiratory Muscle Training

Snorkel Force is a research group at the University of Portsmouth developing a new generation of respiratory muscle training technology.

Our aim is simple: enable swimmers and other aquatic athletes to train their breathing muscles while they are already in the water.

By combining respiratory muscle training with normal aquatic sessions, we hope to make training more efficient, more specific and ultimately more effective.

Support Our Research

Your insights will help us develop a more effective, practical and evidence-based respiratory muscle training solution for aquatic activities.

The Problem

Why Current Breathing Training Falls Short

Extra Training Time

}

Current respiratory muscle trainers must be used on land, adding another separate activity to already busy training schedules.

Not Sport-Specific

Land-based devices do not accurately reproduce the body position, breathing patterns or muscle demands experienced during swimming and diving.

Missed Performance Potential

Breathing muscle fatigue can limit endurance, recovery and underwater performance, yet current solutions cannot be used during aquatic training.

Help Shape the Future of In-Water Respiratory Training

Share your experience and insights to help us develop a new generation of respiratory muscle training technology for swimmers, divers, coaches and healthcare professionals.

Our Solution

A Smarter Way to Train Your Breathing

Discover how Snorkel Force makes respiratory muscle training more efficient, more specific and better suited to aquatic performance.

Train in the Water

Perform respiratory muscle training while swimming, eliminating the need for separate land-based breathing sessions.

Improve Performance

Designed to better replicate real aquatic breathing patterns, helping to improve respiratory muscle strength, endurance and underwater performance.

WHO IS IT FOR

Designed for Athletes, Professionals & Organisations

Snorkel Force is being developed to support a wide range of users who rely on breathing performance in sport, training and rehabilitation.

Athletes

Competitive swimmers, triathletes, artistic swimmers and cross-training athletes looking to improve endurance, breathing efficiency and performance.

Divers

Designed for recreational and occupational divers, including military, police, coastguard and commercial diving professionals.

Healthcare

Supporting healthcare professionals and patients through respiratory muscle training for rehabilitation and respiratory health.

Clubs & Partners

For swimming clubs, coaches, manufacturers and organisations interested in improving training or exploring commercial partnerships.
